LA Metro: Make the Connection

We partnered with LA Metro and Bubba’s LA to create a series of animations announcing the completion of the Regional Connector project. The Regional Connector is an extension of two light-rail train lines that will provide folks with a transfer-free ride across Los Angeles. This project is a big deal for LA Metro—they’ve been digging underground and building new stations for the past 9 years, so that riders can have a faster, more efficient commute. We’re proud to collaborate with them on such a monumental project, creating five animations to highlight all the benefits and features of the newly connected train lines.

HYPE VIDEO

The Hype Video is the central animation for the campaign, created to build excitement and convey all the new train improvements. The video explains how the Regional Connector will make commutes easier for everyone, as well as visually communicate more complex changes, like how the new train lines are rerouted through the downtown LA core.

LA is known for having congested highways. Take the Metro instead!

With LA Metro, we always aim to represent LA’s diverse ridership.

Downtown LA’s Historic Core

The Regional Connector will connect riders to work, to play, to school, and to local shopping and dining.

A revived downtown LA, rich with historical culture and vibrant energy.

The Regional Connector project will improve connections, reduce transfers, and connect folks to local businesses, jobs, education, healthcare, and arts and cultural destinations across LA.

METRO RIDER STORIES

We worked with LA Metro and Bubba’s LA to develop 4 character-driven stories that depict how the Regional Connector helps riders connect, commute, and explore. We had the honor of bringing these stories to life, infusing them with elements unique to Los Angeles. Alongside LA Metro and Bubba’s LA, we helped Mika reunite with her grandma, joined Michael and Elena on their commutes to school and work, and witness Taylor get one step closer to her musical dream.

MIKA

Mika and her Grandma used to hang out all the time, driving all around LA in Grandma’s 1985 sedan. But Grandma doesn’t drive anymore, so it’s been hard for them to see each other. Luckily, with LA Metro’s new Regional Connector, Mika and Grandma can continue to hang out and enjoy their favorite hobbies: exploring and eating!

MICHAEL

Ever since Michael was a boy, he wanted to go to the same college as his dad. They’re both big fans of their football team. However, Michael’s commute to class was long, tiring, and involved many transfers. With the opening of LA Metro’s Regional Connector, Michael can now take one train line from East LA all the way to the Westside. Now, being on time for class (and the big game) is a breeze!

TAYLOR

For as long as she can remember, Taylor has always wanted to lead an orchestra. Maestro Taylor! So when Dad offers to take her to see the new concerto in downtown LA, Taylor feels one step closer to her dream. Because of LA Metro’s Regional Connector project, Taylor and Dad only have to take one train to the concert hall.

ELENA

As a working mom with two kids, Elena’s time is precious. Commuting from Highland Park to her work in downtown LA was expensive and exhausting. With LA Metro’s Regional Connector, Elena can now get to work seamlessly while reading a book or catching up on her favorite podcast. No more traffic, expensive gas, or parking troubles, and more time to spend with her family!
